Q. WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO ENTER?
A. Any attendee to Photoshop World Conference & Expo, held in Las Vegas on September 4-6, 2008. This is a special competition held exclusively for Photoshop World Conference & Expo attendees. It is not open to the general public or NAPP members who are not attending Photoshop World Conference & Expo.
Q. IS THERE AN ENTRY FEE?
A. No. There is no entry fee for submitting work for judging to the Guru Awards, and anyone attending Photoshop World Conference & Expo may enter (except NAPP employees and members of their families).
Q. WHAT CAN I WIN?
A. Winners in each of the seven categories are presented with the Guru Award and CDW, the Guru Awards official sponsor, will present the winners a special gift. Finalists in each category receive a finalist certificate, suitable for framing. The Best of Show winner will receive an extra gift courtesy of CDW.
Q. WHEN WILL THE GURU AWARD WINNERS BE ANNOUNCED?
A. Winners will be announced during a special Guru Awards presentation. There will be no prior notification of winners, and all winning entries will be secret until their official announcement during the ceremony.
Q. HOW DO I ENTER THE COMPETITION?
A. Fill out and submit the Entry Form any time after your conference registration is paid for Photoshop World, up until the end of the submission period. You may also Submit Entries By Mail on a CD-ROM disc, please print out and complete this form, and include it with your artwork submission to:

Q. WHAT FORMATS DO YOU ACCEPT FOR SUBMITTING MY IMAGES?
A. All web entries must be a JPEG with a file size of no more than 1MB. Remember to include your name, the artwork's name, and full contact info when you submit your entry. If you wish to mail us your entry on a CD, you may submit a Photoshop Document (.psd) that is up to 4mb in size.
All submissions become the property of NAPP and will not be returned.
Q. WHEN IS THE SUBMISSION DEADLINE?
A. All entry forms/material submissions must be submitted before the deadline. Deadline for submission is extended to Friday, August 15, 2008!
Q. WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A. The NAPP assumes all entries are original Photoshop creations and are the works and property of the entrant, with all rights granted therein. NAPP is not liable for any copyright infringement on the part of the entrant. Modifying, enhancing, or altering someone else's existing artwork does not qualify as an original creation, however stock photography may be used and modified in your entries. Third party plug-ins and other applications may be used to create your artwork, but the primary tool for the creation of your entry must be Adobe Photoshop. Entries must not defame or invade publicity rights or privacy of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any personal or proprietary rights of any third party.
You may submit a minimum of one (1) to a maximum of three (3) individual pieces in one or more of the following categories:
- Photography (digital or traditional scanned images manipulated or collaged in Photoshop) Every Photography entry will be automatically submitted to win the Vincent Versace Award for Digital Photography Excellence.
- Illustration (original creations drawn or created in Photoshop)
- Artistic (artistic creations)
- Photo Restoration (restoring or repairing damaged images - i.e., rips, scratches, etc.)
- Photo Retouching (Repairing or restoring damaged images, retouching people, landscapes, etc.)
- Commercial (brochures, annual report collages, advertising, logos, etc.)
- Photo Montage (Collage of images).
NAPP reserves the right to recategorize entries and to create new categories, if appropriate.
Q. HOW MANY PIECES MAY I ENTER?
A. You may enter a total of three pieces. Total entries may not exceed three pieces.
Q. HOW WILL ENTRIES BE JUDGED?
A. Selection of as many as 50 finalists will be conducted by NAPP's in-house creative team. Those finalists will then be re-evaluated to select Guru Award winners. The panel will consist of any or all of the following: photographers, creative directors, art directors, Web designers, and graphic designers.
